Shobhna realised that the real service starts from inside before spreading to the outer world and this realization made her to leave her corporate job to become a full time yoga teacher! She had the courage to follow her dreams and chose the yoga path realising that it fills her with enthusiasm and love.
She decided to equip herself with the right qualification and hence, she successfully completed her Teachers Training Course (TTC) from Sivananda Madurai Ashram in 2011. Subsequently, she acquired Masters in Yoga from Karnataka Open University, Yoga foundation course from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga and finished her Advanced TTC from ISYVC in 2015. To deepen her understanding of teaching Yoga, she worked as a Karma yogi at Sivananda Yoga centre, New Delhi for 7 months. This gave her the opportunity to learn under seasoned teachers and also to live the disciplined ashram life which taught her lessons of patience, love, humbleness and self-less service.
Shobhna has been teaching Hatha yoga, Power yoga, Pre/Post Natal yoga, kids’ yoga, Cross Fit and Strength training sessions in addition to conducting yoga workshops. She feels that teaching people brings forth an equivalent amount of calm and satisfaction which the completion of an art work gives to an artist! She loves to get creative with yoga sequencing and movements but strongly believes in making Sivananda sequence the core framework for any class. Also she believes that, with the practise of Hatha Yoga in the class, it is important that students inculcate the values of self love, self belief, self forgiveness and self acceptance.
She has been conferred the ‘Youth Icon Award’ in Fazilka, as a recognition of her yoga teaching service to the local community. She continues her work with gratitude and works as an instrument of gurus while introducing people to the joyful & healing world of yoga. She believes that Yoga can elevate one’s existence to a higher level of being and brings out the beauty of that person from inside out!
